The Keepers
Nine beings who guard the relics and trials of Albion: the Custodian, the Keeper of Choices, Elrius of the Harp, and the rest.
Archetype
Each Keeper stands at a door and tests the one who would pass. They grant nothing; they reveal what the seeker already carries.
The story
Albion's relics are never unguarded. At every threshold stands a Keeper, and every Keeper asks the same thing in a different way: what will you give, and what will you face? The Silent Custodian watches Gildmere Abbey and whispers of a prophecy. The Keeper of Choices plays chess with a Slayer's memories at the Watchtower of Highmarch. Elrius guards the Lyrican Harp in the Hollow Vale.
The Keeper of the Flame names Eadric a Keeper himself. The Keeper of Truths tells him the Dragon Kin are humanity's own shadows. The Keeper of the Lantern takes his fear. The Keeper of the Well gives him a vial called Hope. The Keeper of Oaths binds his arm with blue runes. Between them they turn a slayer into a guide.
Appearance
They differ: the Silent Custodian of Gildmere flickers like a ghost; the Keeper of Choices is a hooded figure with bone-thin hands over a chessboard; Elrius, Keeper of the Harp, wears centuries of sorrow; the Keeper of the Flame wears crimson and gold; the Keeper of Truths is a robe of shimmering light; the Keeper of the Lantern wears silver and speaks in a voice neither male nor female; the Keeper of the Well is a hunched old man in grey; the Keeper of Oaths is a tall figure wreathed in frost with a hood of ice.
Signature
A trial each: the Rite of Shadows, the chess game, the Song of the Lost, the Eternal Flame, the Hall of Reflections, the Lantern's price, the Well's whispers, the Oathstone.

Words
Purpose is not given, Slayer. It is forged, like a blade in the fire.
Winning and losing are illusions. What matters is that you played. That you chose.
