Jungian archetypeThe Innocent

PersonalityENFP

Warm, eager, idealistic, quick to hope and quick to speak. He is the one who runs toward a grieving friend instead of away.

The story

Valen came to the hills of Albion with a sword he barely knew how to hold and eyes alight with dreams. When Eadric spoke of a brotherhood, it was Valen who gave it a name: 'A society of dragon slayers.'

On the ill-fated expedition into Eldmoor he was lost in the mire and given up for dead. Eadric carried his name among the fallen for years; the Wyrm of Eldmoor and the Hollow Vale both used it against him. But Valen had crawled out of the swamp alive, and by the time the Dragon Kin marched on Ravenspire he had found his way back to the fight.

It was Valen who found Ysador in the ruins of Emberholt and refused to let her fire die. His words there are the ones the Society was founded on: you are more than your fire, and if you let this loss consume you, you are no better than the ashes.

Appearance

Youthful and bright-eyed, unscarred by cynicism at the founding and hardened by the war. Fair hair, a traveller's grey cloak, a plain sword he once held with shaking hands.

Signature

A sword that shook in his grip at the founding and did not shake at Emberholt.
