The one who tends the wounded and, more dangerously, tells the leader the truth he needs. Her absence shapes Eadric more than most of the living.
Quiet conviction, deep loyalty, and a gift for seeing what a person carries. She defended Eadric's right to lead precisely because he doubted himself.
The story
Ysella was the gentlest of the four founders and the strongest. Her hands trembled as she tended the wounded at the founding; by dawn they were steady, and they never shook again. Where Kael saw Eadric's doubts as a danger, Ysella saw them as the reason to follow him: 'He carries those doubts because he cares.'
She died at the first Siege of Ravenspire, holding the line beside Kael after the retreat was sounded. The dragons of Albion learned to wear her face: in Eldmoor, in the Hollow Vale, in the Ashen Glade and at the Whispering Well, her voice is the one they use to accuse Eadric of abandoning them.
But the true Ysella lives in a single memory. Tending his wounds after a battle long ago, she told him: 'Forgive yourself. You carry too much, Eadric. You are only human.' That sentence breaks Vaelthrax, and it is the reason Eadric refuses the Well's offer to bring her back. He will not buy her life with his destiny.
Appearance
Dark curls pulled back loosely, olive skin, warm brown eyes, a kind face with a firm jaw. She wears the fitted silver plate of a Sigil Knight over a deep blue gambeson, a healer's satchel on her hip, bandage wraps on one forearm. Her hands glow with soft golden light when she works.
Signature
Healing light in her palms and a slim short sword she used only when the wounded needed guarding.
